Great perhaps

"I go to seek a Great perhaps" François Rabelais, a famous French writer's last words.

All my life I’ve been searching and seeking a “Great perhaps.” So what’s this great perhaps? It’s all that big and great things that could happen to one’s life. It could be a death-defying experience, amazing adventures, meeting wonderful people like Nelson Mandela or U2’s Bono, being able to study in one of the top universities in your country like University of the Philippines or as simple as meeting the love of your life in your favorite local bookstore and my list goes on and on. So yeah I long for these things. Who doesn’t?
After an overnight swimming

In order to find my great perhaps I did a lot of things and still doing. I go everywhere. I have a lot of  circle of friends and the great thing about them is they always invite me wherever they go. Overnight swimming, sleepovers, fun run, eating to our favorite food chain, getting ourselves drunk and we even attend bible studies. Don’t get me wrong here but we don’t make fun of it, it’s just like we drink on Saturday, we pray on Sunday. If you would notice all of the things that I mention in the first paragraph are different from what I experienced but I assure you that the quality of happiness I got is the same. Having said that I can conclude that happiness isn’t measured based on its grandeur or grandness. Ordinary things are really extraordinary.

I let myself experience all kind of things. I even tried alcohol and cigarettes but I stopped them because I know that they are not good for me and I guess alcohol and cigarettes are not part of my great perhaps. It’s okay to try all things as long as you know when to stop them. I always open my doors. Accept things both good and bad. I was able to go to different places thanks to my relatives who always travel to somewhere new every summer. Somewhere involves Bataan, Quezon province, Cavite and Samar and a whole lot more. I was able to ride ships and planes, where my unforgettable question was asked. Imagine being asked if you are willing to jump off the plane first before everyone else just in case something bad happen. Of course my answer is no I’m not but it doesn’t come out immediately. I was speechless and I imagined  myself somewhere else but it doesn’t last long because I was tapped on my shoulder by my aunt and I was back but I didn’t need to answer the question my aunt answered it for me. And her answer unfortunately is yes but thank God I was saved for nothing bad happened to us.

Did I tell you that my dream is to travel? I have a compilation of quotations about travel, destination and journey and I want to share some. It’s the journey not the destination, it is a good thing for a man to see the world if he can, a good traveler has no fixed plans and is not intent on arriving, journey is have the fun and JRR Tolkien’s not all who wonder are lost are some of my favorites.  Really great right? I’m positive that there are a lot of things waiting for me I’m still young or I thought so. There are a lot of things in store for me and for all the people who seek a great perhaps. Wondering why I am so sure? Because I will force myself do to more than exist. It’s my plan for myself and I always pray that God and I share the same plan.

We are God

Know ye not that ye are God?
Man was created in God's image and likeness

I encountered this phrase when I’ve read Dan Brown’s book entitled The Da Vinci Code. I think this phrase suggests that we, humans are capable of great things. God gave us the necessary abilities so that we will be able to help ourselves and help the people around us and to achieve peace and harmony in this chaotic world. We are capable of miracles that defy science but our nature as humans always pull us down and back to earth. Be perfect as your heavenly father is perfect so the bible says. We can achieve perfectness because we are created in God’s image and likeness. Why don’t we know about this? It’s because religious group leaders oppose and hid these ideas. Why? Because they don’t want us to discover God and God’s gifts to us for ourselves. They want people to go to church and follow its rigid beliefs. If people learn this thing the church will lose its power. The people will no longer listen and follow their rules. So they kept this idea to themselves and created something new. One that suits they want. Whenever we awaken to our divinity, we become aware of who we really are. There is a shift from so-called human nature to God nature. And when there is this shift, it is called a resurrection. Your awakening to this divinity is your resurrection. It is what has lived within you at all times and has been with you since time began.

Every day

Every day a different body. Every day a different life. Every day in love with the same girl.

I was able to read  this book last week thanks to my friend Limwell Sesuca. The book is about a teen whose name is A who wakes up every morning in a different body, living a different life. There’s never any warning about where it will be or who it will be. A has made peace with that, even established guidelines by which to live: Never get too attached. Avoid being noticed. Do not interfere. It’s all fine until the morning that A wakes up in the body of Justin and meets Justin’s girlfriend, Rhiannon. From that moment, the rules by which A has been living no longer apply. Because finally A has found someone he wants to be with—day in, day out, day after day.

The author of this amazing book is David Levithan, the bestselling co-author of Will Grayson, Will Grayson, and Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, he has pushed himself to new creative heights. He has written a captivating story that will fascinate readers as they begin to comprehend the complexities of life and love in A’s world, as A and Rhiannon seek to discover if you can truly love someone who is destined to change every day.

I really like this book because it is so unique. I've read a lot of books but I never encounter like this one. I've never read a book whose character moves from one person to another. The book is compelling. The moment I started reading it I didn't stop. I want to know what's the next thing that will happen to the  main character. One of the great things about this book is that A, the main character shifts from different gender. Sometimes he's a guy, sometimes girl, sometimes gay, sometimes lesbian yes he even become a transgender. So all gender will be able to relate to this book and the reader will be able to look at the perspective of other genders not just the usual guy and girl.
Also the book shows how people can truly love someone who is destined to change everyday.
I think it's hard to love someone like that because nothing is permanent except the affection and love for each other but I also thing that that is enough and that makes all the difference.

Government's Mistake

Government’s mistake

In Antipolo a grandmother had died after the local government refused to let the relatives borrow the municipal’s ambulance. The grandmother had heart attack and her relatives want her to take to the hospital and in order to do that they will need an ambulance so they borrow from the municipal but it refuse saying that the family needs to prove that there is no available ambulance surrounding the family’s place. Unable to do so the grandmother died on the spot. The grandmother died there and then.

This event only shows that our government is useless not that I’m generalizing here but it’s the truth if the local government, which is small can’t help its constituents what more the national government which takes care the whole country. Where is the government when we most needed them? Where are the politicians that people vote for? None, they are busy in their own world. I wonder what their world involves. Does it involves the sick, helpless people or it involves money, money and nothing but people’s money calling it their own.

There are a lot things that the government needs to change. The room for improvement get bigger and bigger, so many issues that needed solutions so many that we don’t know anymore where to start. As much as I want to help my country I cannot because I too suffer. The only thing I can do right now is to help people in my own simple ways. I think one of the solutions is to have the right people with good will.  Good will that would suits the need of the whole country. I know that writing this article would not change somebody’s mind. Maybe I’m writing this article for myself.

Amazing grace of nature

The amazing grace of nature
Look at the nature of life
And its amazing grace
The birds are chirping
The frogs are burping
The flowers are blooming
And the butterflies are chirping and dancing
If you are lonely
Nature is the only one
To see the beautiful sun
And you will have lots of fun
You can run and touch the sky
And I will say the sky is my
Look at the stars
Far from mars
Nature is been ruined by cars
See the trees
With the breeze
I am sure you will be freezed
Nature is a boon given to us
But we people make a fuss
So this is the nature
                             And his creature.

A person who is always at peace with the world

How to become a person who is always at peace with the world?
Here’s how.

First: Know that you are capable of great things.
You are capable of great things, but you must never forget that there is a hand guiding your steps. We call that hand God, and He always guides us according to His will.
You don’t have to be great to start but you have to start in order to be great. You don’t have to be Superman, Batman or anyone who has extraordinary power to be great and to be grand. You only need to look into your heart, know what you want and muster the courage to do it. You are a son of God. You can do anything. You can do all things. Nothing is impossible as long as you wish it with all your heart. But all of these will be in vain if you don’t do anything about it. Our abilities aren’t meant to just sit there. It’s meant to be used.

Second: Must learn to bear certain pains and sorrow that will make you a better person.
That makes the person suffer a little, but afterwards, he’s much sharper. So you, too, must learn to bear certain pains and sorrows, because they will make you a better person.
Life throws us battles, pains and sorrows that sometimes we think that what we are going through is beyond our capability. That we will not be able to overcome it. But the thing about these battles is that they make us a better person. They help us build our character, from weak to strong and from broken to whole again.

Third: Correcting something we did is not necessarily a bad thing in contrast it helps to keep us on the road to justice.

We are not perfect. We are only human. We make mistakes, a lot of them. And the wrong things we did in the past will haunt our present and probably our future. Knowing that we have done injustice to others could serve as a hindrance in keeping ourselves at peace with the world. Our ghost from the past would jump at us so before it happens we should correct our mistakes as soon as possible. Make it right before it’s too late and do our best not to do it again. When we are able to do this we are on the road to justice.

Finally: Leaves a mark.
You should know that everything you do in life will leave a mark, so try to be conscious of that in your every action.
Good or bad there always be a stain whether it is a scar or something that is invisible and intangible like emotion. It can break a heart and ruin a relationship so be conscious of your words also. You could be someone’s inspiration or someone’s reason to end life. You don’t know what people are going through. Your words might be the last thing they  hear before they decided that they finally had  have enough. And when that thing happens you will not be able to forgive yourself, no amount of “kind words” will make you feel better. There’s always be a monster beneath your bed or inside your head and that monster whose name is conscience or guilt will prevent you from achieving peace with yourself and with the world.

Robin Williams' Death

I was in Second Year College when we watched the film entitled Dead Poet Society and that is the film where I met Robin Williams. Honestly I don’t know much about him but the movie is good. It’s all about him being a teacher of what students considered as boring subject which is poetry but because of his unique approach of teaching he was able to get the attention of his students or better yet he was able to make the students loved the subject.  All of us can relate to that movie because we are all future educators, since then I became a Robin Williams fan. Needless to say I was shocked when I heard the news that he had committed suicide because of depression. I know I’m just one of those people who were saddened by his death but still I decided to learn more about depression, clinical depression specifically and how it was able to lured one of the world greatest comedians. I borrowed a good explanation of depression from Philippine Daily Inquirer. Here read it.

Depression is a mental illness and it isn’t the same as getting the blues, angst, emo, drama or even the occasional bad hair day that many people have. Clinical depression is a serious, legitimate illness. It’s not a character flaw, a sign of weakness or a personality defect. Being a depressive person doesn’t mean that he or she is permanently incapacitated, untrustworthy or out of his or her mind. In many cases, it’s a chemical imbalance, and no amount of telling a person to “snap out of it” is going to work if he or she is not well.

The next question would be to what extent exactly “not being well” meant? The answer is this: depression ranges in seriousness from mild, temporary episodes of sadness to severe, persistent depression. Clinical depression is more severe form of depression, also known as major depression or major depressive disorder.

Here is the list of several symptoms; having five or more of them (episodes of sadness) consistently over a two-week period, “most of the day, nearly every day,” could indicate illness. The behavior includes feeling sad, empty, tearful or even irritable; reduced interest or pleasure in most activities; extremes like significant weight loss or weight gain, decrease or increase in appetite, sleeping too much or too late, or restlessness or slower movement; fatigue; difficulty concentrating; and the most insidious: the thought of or actual attempts at suicide.

Just like everyone else I want to know what’s the difference between depression and sadness and how will we know which is which? According to what I have read it is difficult to have an exact definition of depression, as different persons experience varying degrees of it. But the distinct difference is that depression impairs the individual’s capacity to function efficiently. With depression they are unable to carry out their acts of everyday life. People may feel sad due to challenges, setbacks and loss; however they have the capacity to use personal coping skills to overcome these emotions. It is when they are unable to overcome this low mood, and when it affects their ability to interact with society that we consider the possibility of ongoing depression.

Depression a big no wonder Robin Williams ended his life but I'd like to think that he is bigger. Now that all is clear. I hope people will find this article helpful so that no more thought of or actual attempts at suicide will happen I know that it’s impossible .But there’s always hope. It’s sad that Robin Williams was defeated by depression. May he rest in peace.
